When day breaks
When day breaks I say
how lucky I am to be a witness
of the passing of the dark night
that gave my country suffering and bitterness.
Then I see man,
who arises, grows tall and mighty.
When day breaks I feel
that your love grows stronger with time
and becomes a hand on my hair
and becomes pain and consolation.
When day breaks I tell
my two children to bring me the light
of their two eyes to illuminate
som much hope of work and bread.
When day breaks I think
of the mass meeting at six in town
where all the people will be shouting
that they’ll defend all that has been conquered.
