Acerca de Aborym
After a brief false start between 1991 and 1993, Italy's Aborym truly came to be in 1997, with leader Malfeitor Fabban (bass, synthesizers, programming) drafting Sethlans (guitars, samples) and vocalist Yorga SM to take part in the self-financed Antichristian Nuclear Sabbath demo. This in turn attracted new vocalist Attila Csihar -- legendary for his seminal work with Mayhem -- and lead guitarist Nysrok SS, who joined in time for 1999's Kali Yuga Bizarre album, released by Scarlet Records. Introducing a truly original brand of futuristic black metal, the album's jagged samples, electronic drums, and industrial overtones make Aborym's peculiar sound very hard to pin down or define. Even more challenging and sonically oblique, their second effort, Fire Walk with Us, followed in 2001. Citing a wide array of influences, including drum'n'bass, jungle, techno, classical, and EBM, 2003's With No Human Intervention continued to mine the electronic end of the black metal spectrum, and would be the last outing for vocalist Attila Csihar, who returned to Mayhem, and guitarist Set Teitan, who joined Dissection. Mysticum's Preben Mulvik assumed the frontman role for 2006's well-received Generator, which was released via Season of Mist, but it would be four years before the band would return to the studio. A flurry of personnel changes greeted the release of 2010's Psychogrotesque. Pared down to a trio consisting of Fabban, Bård G. Eithun, and new guitarist Paolo Pieri, the album consisted of a single track broken into ten parts, and was described by the band as "a harsh sonic monolith of sickness and depravity." Arriving in 2013, the Agonia Records-issued Dirty was a double LP, with the first disc containing all new material and the second featuring reworked versions of older tracks and a trio of covers. A new lineup was convened for 2017's Shifting.Negative, which featured co-founder Fabban hosting a whole new crew along with multiple guest musicians. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
