Pop duo Loote was formed by the production team of singer/songwriters Jackson Foote and Emma Lov. The New York-based pair were performers in their own rights before meeting in college. Lov, a singer and guitarist from a young age, started her career writing jingles for toy commercials and children's television networks. In 2014, she was paired with Foote for a class songwriting project and their professional relationship continued outside of the classroom. Under the guidance of their professor -- the producer Carl Sturken (Rihanna, *NSYNC, Christina Aguilera) -- they formed Loote and signed to Universal Music Publishing Group through Sturken and his partner Evan Rogers' SRP. Together, they co-wrote and co-produced "No Promises" for Cheat Codes and Demi Lovato, which went platinum in the U.S. and double platinum globally. While writing and producing for other artists and remixing tracks by Shawn Mendes and Mike Posner, they released their own single, the tropical-tinged pop song "High Without Your Love" in 2017. After that song charted on a Billboard streaming chart, they followed with "Out of My Head" and "Your Side of the Bed." In 2018, the pair teamed up with Joe Jonas for "Longer Than I Thought," and issued the single "Back Together" and the EP Single. The following year saw the duo release the singles "Better When You're Gone," which featured David Guetta and Brooks, and "85%," featuring Gnash. ~ Neil Z. Yeung
