Acerca de Britton Buchanan
A self-declared fan of musicians including Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, and Paul Simon, singer and songwriter Britton Buchanan first found the national spotlight with his runner-up finish on the U.S. version of The Voice in 2018. His original song "Where You Come From," which he performed on the season finale, was a streaming hit that reached the Top 15 of Billboard's Hot Digital Songs chart.
Hailing from Sanford, North Carolina, Buchanan chose the guitar and musical theater over sports at a young age, and was playing in a cover band by the age of 13. A year later, he won a songwriting contest that awarded him the chance to record with John Davenport, who'd engineered albums for marquee names like Springsteen and the Rolling Stones.
When the 14th season of TV singing competition The Voice began airing in February 2018, viewers saw a 17-year-old Buchanan audition with Ray LaMontagne's "Trouble," accompanying himself on guitar. Coaches Kelly Clarkson, Alicia Keys, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton were unanimous in their praise, and as Buchanan advanced through the finale under the tutelage of Keys, he performed songs made famous by Ed Sheeran, John Mellencamp, and Billy Joel, among others.
He took second place during the May finale, where he performed "Good Lovin'" by the Young Rascals, Avicii's "Wake Me Up" (a duet with Keys), and his own original ballad, "Where You Come From." The latter debuted at number 15 on Billboard's chart for digital song sales. Buchanan returned home from L.A. after the finale to finish high school. ~ Marcy Donelson
