It would be easy to label the ‘60s-inspired rock of The Bloomfields as an exercise in retrospection. It’s obviously a massively successful one, but equally the quartet compose very modern OPM—along with their beloved covers of standards, of course—while retaining the swinging energy and bluesy vibe of their beloved era. Classic beat music grooves, cooing, Beatlesque vocal harmonies and evocative replication of a vintage Manila sound have been their bread and butter since 2007’s debut LP. And they continue to suit up, straighten their ties and look back with a playful knowing.
