Vltimas is an extreme metal "supergroup" comprised of award-winning Norwegian guitarist Rune Eriksen (aka Blasphemer, ex-Mayhem), vocalist David Vincent (ex-Morbid Angel), and drummer Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy). Their sound combines elements from all of their musical foundations, including vintage black and death metal.

While living in Portugal and playing in a number of other groups including Aura Noir, Eriksen wanted to return to the cold, Scandinavian style-riffing of blackened death metal. To that end, he contacted Mounier, whom he had worked with in a number of guest settings, always with the joint notion that they might one day start a group of their own. Knowing instinctively he needed a singer of repute, Eriksen got in touch with Vincent, with whom he had communicated for years and who had just left Morbid Angel to seek his own project. As Vltimas, they combined their strengths.

They came together in the United States at Georgetown's Noize Factory studio and began writing. The sessions proved fruitful; initial ideas and skeletons were later fleshed out by Eriksen at his home studio in Lisbon, then finalized when he and Mounier traveled to Vincent's home studio in Texas for final touches. The material was approved and properly demo'ed by all three members. The band took their completed songs to Orgone Studios in Woburn, England in May of 2018 with producer Jaime Gomez Arellano. They recorded nine crushing tracks and submitted them to several labels including Season of Mist, which signed them. Vltimas' debut album, Something Wicked Marches In, was released during the spring of 2019.
