One of the talented jazz musicians of the younger generations in Brazil, Délia Fischer has been playing with the musicians Nico Assumpção, Marcos Ariel, Toninho Horta, Nivaldo Ornelas, Robertinho Silva, Pascoal Meirelles, Jane Duboc, and Dom Um Romão. She has also accompanied the pop stars Ed Motta and Baby do Brasil, among others. In August 2000, she joined the former Copa 5 leader, J. Meirelles, in his comeback at José Domingos Raffaeli's jazz sessions at the Hotel Novo Mundo.nnFischer started her musical studies in 1977 with Saloméa Gandelmann. In 1986, her professional career started when she created Duo Fênix with Cláudio Dauelsberg. The duo began performing their instrumental/jazz music throughout Brazil, as well as abroad at such clubs as New Morning (Paris, France) and Brottfabrik (Germany) and in the Montreux (Switzerland) and Sofia jazz festivals. They also recorded the albums Duo Fênix and Karai-Ete. With the dissolution of the duo in 1990, Fischer went on with her solo career, dedicating herself to teaching and working as a sidewoman in shows and sessions. In 1999 she recorded Antonio, with the participation of Romero Lubambo, Nico Assumpção, and Nivaldo Ornelas, among others. The album was also released in the U.S. and Europe. ~ Alvaro Neder
