Acerca de Desaster
Representing a second generation of bad spelling, Germany's Desaster took their name from Destruction's classic track "Total Desaster," and, like their inspiration, showcased a black metal-leaning style of post-thrash throughout their early career. Much of this took place in relative obscurity, though, since the band founded in the town of Koblenz in 1988 only managed to release their debut album, A Touch of Medieval Darkness, an incredible eight years later. Cheekily named members Okkulto (vocals), Infernal (guitar), Odin (bass), and Tormentor (drums) quickly made up for lost time, however, issuing 1997's Stormbringer EP, 1998's Hellfire's Dominion album, and then the Ten Years of Total Desaster collection in 1999. By this stage, the band's sound had pretty much evolved into pure black metal, and the following year's Tyrants of the Netherworld would serve as Okkulto's farewell from the group, with 2002's Divine Blasphemies introducing new frontman Sataniac. The band inked a deal with Metal Blade for their next studio album, 2005's Angelwhore, and in 2007 they issued their seventh full-length, Satan's Soldiers Syndicate. In 2012 the band celebrated their 20th anniversary by releasing album number eight, Arts of Destruction. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
