The Chain
Pull your face together to pray for justice
The only god you seek is the god of dread
I want to kneel and pray beside your alter
But all you speak in your eyes is the god of death
You set upon with love your gift of habit
Attested to the death of the great white hare
It gave its soul to you a gift of spirit
You sacrificed to the Christ adorned in spit
Now you bear the chain
Stare upon your blood your own creation
A name upon a grave your final breath
With a hand of dirt we save your last redemption
And now pay our last retribution to the dead
As you bear the chain
