On the Threshold
I am standing on the threshold of eternity at last
As reckless of the future as I have been of the past
I am void of all ambition; I am dead of every hope
The coil of life has ended, I am letting go the rope
I start to lose my breath
And once again see death
Face to face I see that life for me
Just isn't supposed to be
Already dead but living, a fact I regret
A man without desire excepting to forget

A dead leaf from the frost of a long-forgotten year?
Hopes keep falling
And the Pain goes on
I try to scream my name
But the words just pass on through the air
I start to lose my breath
And once again see death
Face to face I see that life for me

These are words of deeper sorrow
Then the wails above the dead
I'm lost in the shadows
Drowning in grief and pain
Many faults defaced me
Words from me are vainer still
But the thoughts we cannot bridle
Force their way against our will
Bitter and cold
The shivers now suddenly unfold
As a drop of silence
Quietly I begin to fall
