Prayers to the Most High
"Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done
On earth, as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sin
As we forgive those who sin against us
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil."
We are taught to pray
Yet we are a cursed women
A cursed people
Made to bear the ill-will of the world
And call them our sons, our loves
We are a cursed people
Cursed to pain
To water that doesn't heal
To water that breaks
That bears life
That bears death
That bears men
We are a cursed people
Are we punished...
"Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy
Our life, our sweetness, and our hope
To you, we cry,
The poor banished children of Eve
To you we send up our sighs,
Mourning and weeping in this land of exile
Turn, then, most gracious advocate
Your eyes of mercy towards us
And after this, our exile
Show to us the blessed fruit of your womb
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!"
We are told to pray
Yet I remain a cursed woman
Member of a cursed people
Made to bear the ill-will of the world
And call them my sons, my loves
We are a cursed people
Cursed to pain
To water that doesn't heal
To water that breaks
That bears life
That bears death
That bears men
We are a cursed people
Are we punished...
OUR FATHER, WHO ART IN HEAVEN
I PRAY TO THEE
HALLOWED BE THY NAME
And when kingdom comes
Your will is done
When man is dead and your son has risen again,
Will we be spared...
The daughters
Mothers
Wives
Sex workers
Holy women
Girlfriends
Soldiers
Trans girls
Will we be spared...
When kingdom comes
Your will is done
When man is dead and your son walks again
Will we be spared...
Amen.
