The First Christmas Day

The First Christmas Day
They say that a new star shone bright as the sun
And led to a manger and Celestial One
And all that beheld it, feel to their knees to pray
Give thanks to the Father on the first Christmas Day.

They say there were angels singing their praise,
Then called to the shepherds in fields, where they lay.
And there in the arms of the Virgin sweet
Was God's gift to all men on that first Christmas Day.

They say that the wise men came bearing their gold.
But still they were humbled by the pride in their soul.
But all fear departed as they gazed on His face.
How long they had waited for this first Christmas Day.
Adonai! Behold a King is born. The world will know His name.
Adonai. Adonai Here am I.

They say He's a ransom for sinners like me.
Why are my transgressions so easy to see.
But there in the cradle, God shows me the way.
I found my redemption on that first Christmas Day.
Adonai! Behold a King is born. The world will know His name.
Adonai. Adonai Here am I.

Each Yuletide is welcomed by carols and bells
And choirs of angels, their choruses swell.
While joyous world honors the King in praise,
I look to the cradle, where true love lays -
A gift from the Father on the first Christmas Day.
