This Covid Thing
I saw her at the flower market
She was looking at the plants
I kept my distance but tried to catch her eye.
We kinda noticed each other
But I really wasn't sure
So with all my heart I gave her up my smile
But I was wearing a mask so she couldn't see
And if she was smiling back at me
Her mask was hiding her bea-u-ty
I had no way to tell
There seemed a twinkle in her eye
But her real expression passed me by
I could have tried harder but I was shy
I had to say 'oh well'
This Covid thing may have cost me love
This Covid thing may have lost me love
This Covid thing - This damn Covid thing
I was wearing a mask so I couldn't say Hi
The opportunity passed me by
Her designer mask only showed her eyes
I had no way to tell
If she was really looking my way
And if she wanted me to make her day
My emotions all in disarray
I had to say 'oh well'
This Covid thing may have cost me love
This Covid thing may have lost me love
This Covid thing - This damn Covid thing
