Goat and Goose

This is the story of a tin brass goat
And an old tin brass goose
And how they came to have a child
How each of them
Was the other’s only friend
They lived out their lives
Just talking to the wind
It was on a cold night in the winter
When that old goat had an idea
Said, it's cold my little darlin’ goose
Won't you come over here
Though we may not be free
I have a dream
A child made by you and me
Might see all there is to see
From sea to shining sea
All the city laid out at their feet
In their view
Were mountains and trees
They were beautiful and green
But every day the same damn thing
He said, men will build a rail
For our baby
And he'll carry them between
All the mountains and the streams
Oh he'll live out all our dreams
And tell us everything
Though we may not be free
I have a dream
The child made by you and me
Might see all there is to see
From sea to shining sea
Under countless trees
Under countless stars
He grew up quick
And he grew up strong
Fast like the wind
And sweeter than a song
Lord he had it all
But he was bound
To the will of men
That long steel track
It was just a prison
He could see the mountains
And the trees
But couldn't touch anything
Though we may not be free
I have a dream
The child made by you and me
Might see all there is to see
From sea to shining sea
Though we may not be free
I have a dream
The child made by you and me
Might see all there is to see
Might be all we could never be
From sea to shining sea
From sea to shining sea
