Not Quite Christmas
Looking out over the lawn
Another year has flown
Though at times it felt like it might never go
Tears run down the pane
Or maybe it's just rain
Either way it feels a little warm for snow
The world's gone brown and gray
How'd it get this way
It should be red and green and white this time of year
Oh it's not quite Christmas without you here
Put the elf up on the shelf
Trimmed the tree myself
It helps me to keep busy with a task
Must be 5 o'clock somewhere
But there's no one here to care
if I've got more than egg nog in my glass
Some carolers came by
Covered up save for their eyes
In hopes of only spreading some good cheer
But it's not quite Christmas without you here
I'll call you later on
It's not the same over the phone
but I'll try and put a smile in my voice
And if the fates allow
We'll get through this somehow
Though we all agree it's nobody's first choice
Making do, making the best
new traditions now, I guess
But I'm a mess just underneath my bright veneer
Cause it's not quite Christmas without you here
Oh it's not quite Christmas without you here
