About Os Vips
The brothers Ronald Luís Antonucci and Márcio Antônio Antonucci were solo singers when they decided to form a vocal duo in 1964. In the same year, they recorded their composition "Tonight" for the collection Reino da Juventude. The single "Emoção" confirmed their popularity, selling 35,000 copies. One of the most successful vocal groups of the Jovem Guarda, they had several hits with the songs that Roberto Carlos and Erasmo Carlos wrote especially for them, like "É Preciso Saber Viver," "Faça Alguma Coisa Pelo Nosso Amor," "Emoção," "Largo Tudo e Venho Te Buscar," and "A Volta" (the second most-requested song for two weeks in the national hit parade, ahead of the Rolling Stones' "Satisfaction" and the Beatles' "Day Tripper"; the song continued its successful trajectory reaching the first place soon afterwards, receiving the Chico Viola award in 1966). In that period they participated regularly in the main TV shows of the movement (Jovem Guarda, Novos Nove Show, Excelsior A Go Go) and even were given their own TV show, Linha de Frente. They also participated in the film Abraça-me Forte (Mozael Silva), with Wanderley Cardoso and Rosemary. In the '70s they became Márcio e Ronaldo, dissolving the duo in 1976, when Márcio became a phonographic producer, doing several successful collections with Os Motokas (in fact, Roupa Nova under pseudonym). With the Jovem Guarda revival in the decade of 1990 they teamed up again, recording in the next year the live album "A Volta" (which sold 300,000 copies) and also performing shows. Also in 1995 Márcio idealized and produced five CDs for Polygram with Jovem Guarda hits recorded mostly by the original interpreters, selling 500,000 copies and yielding a lengthy national tour until 1996. ~ Alvaro Neder
