As the lead guitarist for Guns N' Roses, Slash established himself as one of hard rock's finest and most soulful soloists during the late '80s. His guitar playing was technically adept, yet always firmly grounded in the gritty Aerosmith and Stones licks he loved, plus his image was as iconic as his playing. After GNR splintered in the early '90s, Slash formed the on-again/off-again side project Slash's Snakepit, joined the successful hard rock supergroup Velvet Revolver, and released numerous solo albums that saw the guitar legend collaborating with the likes of Iggy Pop, Myles Kennedy, Ozzy Osbourne, and Lemmy, among others. ~ Steve Huey
