Prince Fox began his musical life by playing guitar, following the singer/songwriter path in the footsteps of one of his biggest influences, John Mayer. It wasn't until a visit to dance music festival Electric Zoo that he decided to learn how to produce electronic music. He remixed tracks for 3lau, Cazzette, and SNBRN, and caught the attention of Casablanca Records, which signed him in late 2015. Born Sam Lassner (and named after two characters from The Little Prince), the Brooklyn-based artist and producer used his songwriting experience to create "forward-thinking pop" for the dancefloor. Much like Disclosure or Zhu, he focused on traditional song structures, forgoing the penchant for massive builds and drops. His Musings EP was released in October 2015 and included a popping mix of '90s-tinged deep house on songs "Heartbeat Darkside" and "Wait Until Tomorrow." Capping off a banner year, Fox released "I Don't Wanna Love You," which featured Melody Noel on vocals. The Hailee Steinfeld-sung single "Fragile" appeared in early 2016 followed by "Oxygen," which featured Michelle Buzz. A pair of hazy midtempo singles marked his 2017 output with the Bella Thorne-assisted "Just Call" and the Quinn XCII collaboration "Space." In early 2019, Fox issued the single "Five Months Later" and appeared on DJ/producer Chantel Jeffries' star-studded single "Facts." ~ Neil Z. Yeung
