About Voz De Mando
Voz de Mando is a regional Mexican group from Los Angeles, California, that broke through to mainstream success with the hit single "Comandos del M.P. (500 Balazos)" in 2010. Founded in 2009 and originally hailing from Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico, the group is based in Huntington Park, a city in Los Angeles County. Bandmembers include brothers Jorge Gaxiola (accordion, vocals) and Miguel Gaxiola (bajo sexto, vocals), plus Domingo Bolaños "El Mingo" (tuba), and Carlos Sígala "Charly" (drums). Voz de Mando initially made a name for themselves with the self-released albums Levantando la Voz (2009) and 12 Impactos de Alto Calibre (2009). Upon signing a recording contract with Disa Records, they made their major-label album debut with Con la Nueva Federacion (2010). One of several songs on the album written by Gaxiola brother Miguel, the album's lead single, the corrido "Comandos del M.P. (500 Balazos)," was a breakout hit for the group, reaching the Top Ten of the Billboard Regional Mexican Songs chart. After touring Mexico, Latin America, and the United States, Voz de Mando returned with the pre-release single "Soldado Latinoamericano" (whose poignant message was directed squarely at Donald Trump), which was followed by the full-length Clase de Historia in March. A year later, the band issued El Que a Ti Te Gusta. ~ Jason Birchmeier
