About Honey Davis
Honey Davis was one of the Davis Twins, a vintage country & western act whose appearances on recordings seem to be confined to several sides cut with disc jockey and performer Sleepy Jeffers in the '50s. Her brother was named Sonny Davis. The rhyming Honey Davis seemed to use a different name, perhaps her real one, for business purposes such as publishing contracts -- at least based on credits for the song "Pretending Is a Game," which list both an "S. Davis" and an "A. Davis."
Another country vocal group called the Davis Sisters is unrelated and features a total of four singing siblings. Another performer named Honey Davis was born in 1957, coincidentally the year the aforementioned Jeffers side was released on the Starday label; again, there is no connection between these performers. The results of the twins' recording session with Jeffers have been included on at least five compilations of vintage rockabilly. ~ Eugene Chadbourne
