The Awakening

I lay there watching her sleeping
A dream slipping from her brow and I long to go where the air is clean in her my evolution calls

On another plane the voices call
Stirring the muscles in their weeping wall In another time machines are built In loving destruction they have made a place for me

And I stood before the Judicial goat
My oaths tight against my martyr's coat
I was an imprisoned warden
Staring at the crumbs while the rats ignored them

And to the first I ask how could this come to pass
And to the past I look but have we really lost?

Are we awake?

But I'm hardened in my sleep
And my dreams are driven steel
For to see the heroes chanting is enough

Oh but I'm hardened in my sleep
And my world seems to conceal
The chance to see the heroes chanting in my time

They bring the needless but my eyes are shut
My head is broken
I sense the demon but my eyes are shut
My head is broken

And to the first I ask how could this come to pass?
And to the past I look but have we really lost?
And to the first I ask how could this come to pass?
And to the past I gaze how is it I am last

To awake?
To resurrect
Awake

A vision of my angels bleeding
A sword on the Holy arm and I long to go when the dreams are clean again
Away from this narcissistic farm

But to where my love lies sleeping
Oblivious to those prison bells and they've chained the ghosts of Herod's brooding

The Jury's trial descends to hell
Descends to hell

And to the first I ask how could this come to pass?
And to the past I look but have we really lost?
And to the first I ask how could this come to pass?
And thy awaken feeling burning of the last

Oh to awake
And to awake
And to awake
