The civil war has ended It’s 1865 Reconstruction act is put in place to fix the States divide

State governments are abolished and new ones are created but there’s much more that must be done

1865 slavery was abolished 1868 citizenship for African Americans some folks wanted a change (Ya we need it to change) some folks wanted the same way no no no (Ya we need it to change)

Andy Johnson wanted to keep the blackman broken but majority overwrote with congress’ 2/3rds vote and the civil rights act became a law cuz republicans new that all the black folk would vote for them And Ulysses Grant became president (Bye Bye Johnson)

Johnsons defeated Now what was needed Is the right to vote still ways to go progress is slow

Congress In 1870 they finally passed a law that said that black men could vote

The 15th amendment outlawed discrimination in voting rights against African Americans unless you’re a lady, then nah. (They found a loophole that’ll stop a lot of black people from voting still) The 15th amendment granted Afro-merican men the right to vote no more judgment based on race, color and previous servitude unless you’re poor, or illiterate and/or your grandpa never voted before
