Beasts of Burden

The hunt begins

He stood in the tall grass and stared across the plains
When a bison with blackened eyes cut through his gaze
A soul heavier than the fur its flesh adorned
Like a bog in muck his feet did bore

The beast approached, burdened by no man
In a voice like a bellow from the core of a mountain it spoke

Get off my land or I will crush your skull
Beneath my cloven hoof I will spill your blood

The hunt has ended
