Cactus Has Chains for Brains
City foliage has grown from pavement
So I excavate walls in the basement
Cement crusts from my hands like soot
Searching and searching for where the plants root
Growing needs practice to
Retain water like a succulent cactus
Roots wriggle, ravage the Earth but
Parched soil can not concede her birth
Spending the rest of their natural lives
Watching and smiling and the seedling dies
