Crystal
A faded picture tells the story
Of a life too brief
Just a photo on a wall called ‘Crystal’
And it’s hard to be believed
Just 18 and pretty and as picture
When a car would take her life
That could have been me or you
And who could understand why
That could have been me or you
And who can understand why
It makes me think of the saying
By the Grace of God go I..you and I
Crystal
She would be my age now
and I’m questioning how
I can sit here saying
By the Grace of God go I
In this life
And the years pass in tides
Back and forth we’re washed pale
By the motion of our lives
There’s pictures of mothers and fathers and wives
Brothers and sisters and a newlywed bride
It could have been me or you
And who can understand why
It makes me think of the saying
By the Grace of God go I..you and I
And I can get so tired
When things aren’t going right
Feeling life has stacked the cards against me
And my days have turned to night
Crystal
She would be my age now
And I’m questioning how
I can sit here saying
By the Grace of God go I
In this life
And I can take for granted
All my fears of growing old
When I should probably take a minute to remember
Her face up on the wall.
