Dark Lullaby
Looking for a roof on her head
and some peace inside
fate gave her up when she fled
in a cold misty twilight
In wind she heard a dismal cry
yet no one in sight
a freezing cold dark lullaby
and with it came the night
When she went the further west
the bigger her fear
a darkest cave-like forest
can't make a conscious clear
She found a roofless farm
full of dust and books and grain
leftovers that ain't no harm
but no shelter from the rain
The dark lullaby
was but the wind
singing through broken windows
like a human sigh
Then she couldn't
tell tears from raindrops
when she curled up fell asleep
to never wake up
Lay lay, through the night
Lay lay, the witch sings a lullaby
Lay lay, through the night
she sings dark lullaby, lay
Nature prepared off on ivy and flower
She was never spoken of
as the seasons passed on her
And sometimes we hear a cry
in the dead of fading light
the sorrow of a dark lullaby
and with it comes the night
