Sleep for the Weary

In Spite of Blue Skies

Now and then the sun reveals its glow
And relieves the soggy feathers
Although I witness blossoms thrive and grow
In sight is stormy weather
As the rising waters find their flow
And dance beyond the river
I can feel the levy start to bow
And fracture under pressure

I'm stranded in the flood again
And I need a moment
To contemplate if I should swim
As so far I've chosen
Or let the current take me in
Will this struggle ever end?
I'm stranded in the flood again

While I drift along the weathered shore
I gaze upon a lantern
'Round and through this long incessant pour
A hope somehow has shimmered
Now amongst the waves the wind has formed
I'm inching my way closer
Only to discover hopeful glows
Were flames upon the shelter

I'm stranded in the flood again
And I need a moment
To contemplate if I should swim
As so far I've chosen
Or let the current take me in
Will this struggle ever end?
I'm stranded in the flood again

I'm stranded in the flood again
And I need a moment
To contemplate if I should swim
As so far I've chosen
Or let the current take me in
Will this struggle ever end?
I'm stranded in the flood again
