Mama's Leaving
Mama says she's leaving
She tucked me up in bed
Can't really say I blame her
Been so long since she's had a friend and
I'm too small to say her judgement
Too small to stake my case
So I'll go along with the theory
And hope for the very best
I'm gonna hope
For the very best
I'm gonna hope
Put her to the test now
Mama says she leaving
Tears dropped as she spoke
I would have loved to disregard this
Take it as a joke
But I've been told to pack my teddy
Pack my baby doll
I'm gonna take along the bad dreams
Memories as well
And I'll hope
For the very best
I'm gonna hope
Put her to the test
It's so sad to leave my tree house
And my sandpit and my swing, but
Mom says when we get there
There'll be so many brand-new, many brand-new things
Oh, we're leaving in the morning
Before the milk arrives, I got to get my head together
Think of some new lies to tell my school friends
I'm gonna hope
For the very best
I'm gonna to hope
Put her to the test
Grown-ups are such weird things
Such strange and mournful beasts
I'm gonna stay a child forever
And play inside my dreams
