Raining on the Inside
Paint my face so carefully today
To hide the shades of grey that won't go away
I hide beneath my plastic smile
I look at you with bedroom eyes cos I know
That's what you need to see - it's what you need from me
And it's raining on the inside
Pouring down in my soul
What I'd give to feel the sunshine
Open a window
It's raining on the inside
Paint my nails in fire engine red
To counteract the blues Weighing on my chest
I go through all the motions and
I smile when it's appropriate but I'm still
I'm still... pushing things up hill
And it's raining on the inside
Pouring down in my soul
What I'd give to feel the sunshine
Open a window
It's raining on the inside
And I can barely breathe
I can barely see
And I don't know if I'll suffocate or drown
And that April rain... keeps coming down
And it's raining on the inside
Pouring down in my soul
What I'd give to feel the sunshine
Open a window
It's raining on the inside
