Sea and Sand

I was deep in the flood when I fell asleep
When into my dreams the water did creep
So I had to wake up, get to my feet
And start kicking outta here

And so my feet I tried to find
But I must have left them both behind
I found a fishy tail and it fit just fine
Said "I gotta swim outta here"
But not to you my dear

Life doesn't always go how we planned
Yesterday you're in the sea and tomorrow in the sand
Life doesn't always go how we want it to
Today you're in the gutter but tomorrow in Kalamazoo

Well I swam all day till the moon-rise came
When I stumbled upon a mountain range
Saying this is the place that I will stay
And call my home sweet home

Then I came upon a mountain goat
Said there's no place here for fish to float
I traded my fins for a pair of hooves
Now I live on the top of the world
Far from my sweet girl

Life doesn't always go how we planned
Yesterday you're in the sea and tomorrow in the sand
Life doesn't always go how we want it to
Today you're in the gutter but tomorrow in Kalamazoo
