The Second Mile

And so, we know that wrong is right
And hatred pays for fights that
We always buy back

We see the beauty in their eyes
A pocketful of lies for
The ones we like more

We feel the child move
A skipping groove we
Pretend we can't see

We say that ignorance is bliss
It's our inheritance
I don't want part in this

Now who will teach the children how to love

And soon, justice will demand
The raising of one's hand to
Affirm and reprove

But here, our justice is a game
An ember not a flame of
The things we once loved

So a child's life
Is not worth strife cause
It does not concern us

You say that innocence is true
But wait till evil's through
I don't know what to do

Now who will teach the children how to love
