The Wolf
The voice says, 'it's too late' or 'it's too hard'
To have what you really want
You're either too old or you're too young
Or it simply can't be done
And if I listen to that voice then it slowly drives me mad
It doesn't tell me what I want, just what I never had... and you say
Don't feed that wolf within you
Or let it hold you back
Cos you only own what's in you
So just remember that
When your back's against the wall
And it's tearing you apart
Don't listen to the wolf
Listen to your heart
The voice says 'nice try', 'well done'...
'But not quite good enough'
'You could try hard, but you'll fail, so why don't you just give up'
And if I look into the mirror and see that voice beyond the glass
She can't look toward the future if she's still stuck in the past... and you say
Don't feed that wolf within you
Or let it hold you back
Cos you only own what's in you
So just remember that
When your back's against the wall
And it's tearing you apart
Don't listen to the wolf
Listen to your heart
She keeps you in the darkness
Because she cannot face the sun
Only sees the day that's over
When the day has just begun... and you say
Don't feed that wolf within you
Or let it hold you back
Cos you only own what's in you
So just remember that
When your back's against the wall
And it's tearing you apart
Don't listen to the wolf
Listen to your heart
