Vietnam

Vietnam, you took her heart, you offered her a brand-new start and left me at the brink of going under
I wondered if our war was turning cold, as dreams were lost and rows grew old had what was love now given way to something, to something
old and empty in the night

round and round the world until you think you've had enough and slowing down as you arrive and speeding up and taking off and you surround yourself with something just to keep you looking up and you've forgotten what you're running from but time is nearly up and so we're

weaving in and out of love with fog below and cloud above and nothing left to show us where we're going, just flowing
through an empty atmosphere as if the end is drawing near and we've been heading only for disaster

It lasted long
since we realised it was wrong

but remember how it started we were young and open hearted before wires all were crossed before innocence was lost if we could go back to the time when you were yours and I was mine before our chemicals combined before our lives were intertwined before

a package deal was all it took to tear
the pages from this book and make it seem as if I'd just been dreaming
just dreaming
