Who asks answers

How many men are needed to make a country,
how many countries to make a world,
how many freedoms to make democracy,
freedoms?

How many houses are needed to make a street,
how many streets to make a city,
how many trees to make a green zone,
a green zone?

How many workers are needed to make a working class,
how many bourgeois are needed to make a bourgeoisie,
how many struggles to defeat,
how many struggles?

How many "openings" are needed to break the lock,
how many peasants are needed to make a peasantry,
how many amnesties are needed to make amnesty,
amnesty?

This the wind asked me,
this I asked myself.
Who asks, answers,
who answers also asks.

One man doesn't make a country,
one country doesn't make a world,
one freedom doesn't make a democracy,
one freedom.

One house doesn't make a street,
one street doesn't make a city,
one tree doesn't make a green zone,
a green zone.

One worker doesn't make a working class,
one bourgeois doesn't make a bourgeoisie,
one battle doesn't make a victory,
one battle.

One "opening" doesn't break the lock,
one peasant doesn't make a peasantry,
one amnesty doesn't make amnesty,
amnesty.

This the wind asked me,
this I asked myself.
Who asks, answers,
who answers also asks.
