Born Alex Fleming, Black Atlass began playing piano at age seven but considered music a hobby when he was growing up.

∙ After seeing Black Atlass’ first-ever gig in Montreal, Chromeo’s P-Thugg tipped off his label, Fool’s Gold, which quickly signed Fleming.
∙ His first single, “Paris,” was used to score commercials for a variety of luxury fashion brands.
∙ In addition to his music career, Fleming also works as a fashion model.
∙ In 2017 Black Atlass appeared in the video for The Weeknd’s single “Secrets” and signed with his XO label the following year.
∙ “Sacrifice,” his collaboration with Jessie Reyez, appeared on the 2018 soundtrack for the film Fifty Shades Freed.
∙ Black Atlass’ 2018 EP, Pain & Pleasure, was nominated for a Juno Award for Best R&B/Soul Recording of the Year.
