Acerca de Jauz
When Jauz—the Bay Area's Sam Vogel, born in 1993—was coming up in the early 2010s, most artists in EDM tended to pick a lane and stay in it: dubstep, house, trap. But Jauz's revelation was that you could do it all, and sometimes in the space of a single song. His early tracks, released when he was just 21, run the gamut, touching upon hardstyle, big-room house, and the wriggly UK style known as bassline; "Rock the Party," a 2015 collaboration with Ephwurd, manages to get dubstep, trance, and jacking house all under the same roof. His breakthrough came with 2014's "Feel the Volume," a gnarly bassline tune that Diplo signed to Mad Decent, which paved the way for high-profile Jauz collabs with Skrillex, Marshmello, and other heavy hitters. Jauz's sheer audacity is his signature: "Gassed Up," with DJ Snake, is a helium-infused, 150-BPM house ripper that's a world away from the French producer's usual trap; "Infected," with Tiësto, brings chain-saw bass to the Dutch don's feel-good style. His 2018 debut LP, The Wise and the Wicked, is a 23-song epic that covers all the bases and then some. Standout "Rave With Me" condenses the entirety of an all-night party into five delirious minutes, going from an ethereal trance opener to big-room buildups to a full-on drum 'n' bass climax and back again—an entire philosophy of EDM in the form of one white-knuckle roller-coaster ride.
