Bodacious Contemplation
She watched from the door as I ran to play
I'd turn, I could still see her wave
And later, returning back up the hill
I thought she'd been waiting all day
She worked everyday, seemed she never stopped
I wondered, "When does she sleep?"
She fed us, she clothed us, she never quit
Her reasons to her she did keep
Mother, no other like my mother
She listened with gentle and loving eyes
She'd smile and you knew she agreed
And when you would say things she might reject
She'd still smile and just let it be
I've wondered how mother could be content
Living her unselfish life
She worked and she gave, she was all for us
This woman, a mother, a wife
Mother, no other like my mother
The years have gone by since I've heard her voice
Felt the sweet touch of her hand
I wish I could ask her just how she kept
Her promise to do life so grand
Then one day, while climbing back up that hill
Years since she waved me goodbye
I realized then that her work was us
In us she was well-satisfied
Mother, no other like my mother
