Counting Up

When I was young I would count down the days, till I reached this age
I never thought I would feel so alone
I managed to get what my parents said
A nice wife three kids and a dog

But then the plague set in, the timer seemed to stop
I'm no longer counting up

I call all my friends on the phone and talk of better days
With barbeques backyards and beers
Punk rock shows and date nights alone in a public place
Birthday parties and friends for my kids

But then the plague set in, the timer seemed to stop
I'm no longer counting up

I write songs I sing on my own, I cant see my friends
I laugh and I play with my kids
Ive painted and worked on my home I have six rooms done
I cherish the time with my wife

But then the plague set in, the timer seemed to stop
I'm no longer counting up
Then the plaque lifted, the timer started up
I'm no longer counting up
