Even Steven

He never went hot
He never looked cold
He was fair to middle on the needle
Too old to be young
Too young to be old
And his name was Even Steven
Straight down the middle of the highway
From a town along the coast
Nothing was wrong
But it wasn't really right
He was looking for a girl he'd known
She said come in I'll take your coat
Let's get to your reprieve
And so a frown turned upside down on their faces even Steve's

They had a good house
Well designed
Perfectly agreeable neighbors
Dark in the hall but
But great kitchen light
And a sign that read The Stevens
Monday tuesday wednesday night
It was chicken broccoli rice
Friday was pizza and wine
They would always split the pie
You'll find them on that level plane
Balancing, unseen
When you tip, they right the scale
Call them the Even Steven

Yeah, You'll find them on that level plane
Balancing, unseen
When you tip, they right the scale
If you try you cannot fail
You'll come out Even Steven
