I Don't Know Why

Tell me, what’s this I see
Migrating birds flying over me
Tell me, what do they know
I was once like them, a lifetime ago

As I face the setting sun
And every tie has come undone

I don't know why
But I know there’s something more to this life
I don't know why
A heart must unfold
Before it can fly

I won’t be here
When autumn leaves
There’s something inside
That stays evergreen
With hope in one hand
Not a cloud in the sky

I’ve memorized that distant shore
I don't belong here anymore

Wherever the road is going
Wherever the wind is blowing
