LADY TREE

You are floating in the air
You’re a blue balloon
On its way to the moon

I am stuck to the ground
I’m a lady tree
Roots growing in me

I wish I could climb
Up to where you are
But it’ll always be too far

I envy all the birds
Carrying you away
All I can do is sway

Take me with you
Light and free
I want to go through
space and leave

Old men sleep in my shade
I can hear their dreams
Pouring out in streams

Children play with my branches
all the time
Well I don’t really mind

Lovers hide behind my trunk
to share a first kiss

But no one would ever suspected
a lady tree
To swoon for a balloon

Take me with you
Light and free
I want to go through
space and leave

I’m begging the wind
To tear me off the ground
To take away my skin
Make me ashes so I could fly

But even the stronger storm
Can’t break me
I’ll always be that tree

Watching endlessly the sky
And my blue balloon
on its way to the moon
