Landscape of Animals

It's hot in the sun
And the pavement burns right through
To the soles
But where else can we go
That's a home just for us?

Walk to my friend's
And it's minutes of silence
And of cold
But the moment we enter
We leave it behind

There is a certain appeal
An unexpected ideal
The cast of the evening light
Like purple laid onto white
There's still a certain appeal
An unexpected ideal

High and away
All the little ones hide up
In their holes
But we try to imagine
A world for us all

Pour in the earth
And indulge in the flavours
Of the core
And the landscape of animals
Like you and me
