Infidelity in the information age
That message that he shouldn't have read
that button that he shouldn't have pressed
that piece of advice foolishly ignored
that space, was a private space.
But he wasn't and won’t ever be cold blooded,
nor have a clear and calculating mind,
and still believing that he knew
what he was getting himself into
one afternoon he opened Pandora's Box.
decodes the code
violates the magical
defeats the machine;
and sooner or later
nothing is secret
in the intricacies
of the information age.
In a short amount of time
he gulped down what he was reading
swallowing that pain that choked him,
clearly feeling the risk and the blunder
of the slippery slope he was sliding down.
And those three weeks seemed like years
he lost the desire to sleep and eleven pounds,
and in flashbacks of jealously
the phrases he shouldn't have read
still keep coming back.
And in this spiral
the most primitive things
there is no password,
safeguard, or PIN,
that can withstand the attack
of a jealous hacker.
