Classically trained vocalist Lindsey Muir, who was born and raised in Litchfield, CT (her mother was founder of Litchfield Performing Arts), hadn't really considered making a record until shortly before she graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in music, when she discovered a song that her grandfather had written for her grandmother years before. Thus began the one-year project of finding the right pieces and musicians for an album. With help from saxophonist/arranger Don Braden, pianist David Berkman, guitarist Mark Whitfield, bassist John Benitez, and drummer Winard Harper, Muir recorded the 11 tracks found on her debut, You're Nearer: Love Songs of the '30s and '40s, which was released in 2006. ~ Marisa Brown
