Finally Free
Waking from sleep
with a lighthearted feel
surprisingly strong
yet still so surreal
finally free
and it seems to me
there never was
a better time to be
decades of trying
ages of doubt
learning at last what it means
to be living without
i never thought that this day would ever come
already ceased believing
all hope was lost
every gleam of light was gone
suddenly i was imbued with life
out of nowhere came this angel of the dark
saved me as i was close to disembark
raised my spirits higher than they've ever been
magic words and powers i've never seen
waking from sleep
with a lighthearted feel
surprisingly strong
but no longer surreal
finally free
and it seems to me
there never was
a better time for me to be
