Her Name Was Mary

'Twas all the people spoke of for seven days and nights
The greatest star of memory it shone a wondrous light

And where its destination ? why did it shimmer so ?
Many made their guesses but only one did know

One person knew the truth as you shall plainly hear
And her name was Mary and she was drawing near

Some sought within the scriptures its prophesy to tell
Some thought a happy omen, a peacefulness befell

Mary, Mary, the star shone down on her
Mary, Mary, the star shone down on her

But darkness gripped the land they knew, 'twas cursed by tyrant's rule
He who feared the worst was wise and he who smiled was fool

One person knew the truth for she was near the place
And her name was Mary, a smile upon her face

O'er Bethlehem descended a dark December chill
The sky was now the clearest, the star shone brighter still

One person knew the truth for it would soon occur
And her name was Mary (for) the star shone down on her
