Talking low in the shallows
Of the ocean and her shadows
A solemn serenade
Or the best that I can muster
In the vein of Gower and Chaucer

My dear
Had I slumbered all this time till you came near
And shined a light on me
Love won't be without mortality

Swaying palms
And I'm teasing out your motives
And your voice is plainly votive
Proclaim my love
The Albelias are my censers
The Cicadas are my chorus

But Lo
Why did you have to go and spoil the show
And shine the light on me
Forever will never be enough for me

Getting high in the kitchen
On the fumes of our suspicion
Heavy haze
Disrobe without pretension
At the merest of suggestions

But dear
For once can we embrace without the fear
You shine a light on me
