Black Lipstick

Years of messages that just ache of being closer to each other
Swiftly wink at me at the gig with your new boyfriend for the month

It seemed as if you always wanted me
Over every kid that I wanted to be

Sleeves and gaps in flesh wider than my palm
Skinny frame, lanky arms and legs

I was the complete opposite
But still your first draft pick

I was stunned...

When we finally met you could cut the tension with the katana blade
From the samurai tattoo on your shoulder

Wine drunk and video game streamers for hours until complete silence
For all the reasons you can expect

Hundreds of dollars stolen just to make the distance work
And it surely did work

Your own personal chauffeur tailored by my father's paychecks

I showed you off to all my friends
We looked like a super villain couple from a comic book

Me with my scary looks and black boots
You with your sharp hair and paper skin

You were amazed at the lack of hatred people had towards me
And frankly so was I

Astounded by the fact I was with someone who wanted to be with me
Consistently

Every weekend lingered the smell of cheap cigarettes and iced coffee

The smell still stayed for weeks after you decided to hit with the
"I think we should stop seeing each other"

I'm still perplexed to this day
Maybe the distance was too much for my goth goddess
Or maybe clinging to another sociopathic, abusive ex

But I remained calm
For that's all I could do

We haven't spoken since

Maybe you'll hear this one day and kick me in the teeth
Or maybe bring me some cigarettes

Sometimes I still smoke that brand of cheap cigarettes
To remember the taste of 3 months lost
But were far from meaningless
