From the big coal companies he got his pay

His youngest girl was Doctor Betty

And flood their gardens of victory.
She went to the big shots of the Shawmut Company
She did not beg and she did not plead
She stood flatfooted and pounded the table
Sewer pipes and bathrooms are what we need.
My dady told me to fight to cure sickness
But I can't cure sickness with sewage all around
These germs kill people quicker than I can cure them
We need a foundation under every house.
We need a bathroom for every family

Three hundred miners are out behind me

I quit my job as the family doctor
I nailed up my shingle and went on my own
I carried my pillbag and waded those waters
I set by a deathbed in many a home.
I saw you catch rainwater in rusty washtubs
I saw you come home dirty up out of your pits
Watched you ride with your coffin up to your graveyard
With not a nickel to pay your burying debt.
On July the fifteenth from the hills around
Three hundred miners walked down through town
The state inspector was testing the water
While he was working you stood around.
One miner asked him to have a drink free
The inspector looked out toward our pits
He set his hat back on his head and says,
"I wouldn't drink a drop of that on a bet."

El compositor e intérprete Borja Penalba presenta "La suite de Parlavà", su segundo trabajo bajo la marca "Giròvag", un álbum de once canciones nacido de un retiro reparador que presentará en vivo este domingo 27 de marzo en La Fàbrica, en el marco del Ciclo de canción de autor BarnaSants.
En una entrevista concedida al diario español El País, Silvio Rodríguez traza un retrato complejo de la Cuba actual, marcado por la tensión entre la amenaza externa, las dificultades internas y las contradicciones del propio sistema. El cantautor reflexiona sobre la posibilidad de una invasión estadounidense, critica tanto las injerencias como ciertas posturas dentro del exilio, reconoce los errores del modelo económico cubano y describe el deterioro de las condiciones de vida en la isla, todo ello desde una mirada que combina defensa, autocrítica y una firme posición política.
Hay discos que no necesitan levantar la voz. Azimut es uno de ellos. Joan Isaac presenta un trabajo hecho desde la contención, desde ese lugar donde la canción deja de ser ornamento para convertirse en algo casi necesario. Un disco minimalista, preciosista, trabajado con una delicadeza profundamente orgánica. Como todo en Isaac, un acto de fe.
Tras la publicación del disco Tinc una casa al mar, Joan Isaac vuelve a editar un nuevo trabajo: Azimut, en el que se encuentra acompañado por el músico y compositor Eduard Iniesta. Durante 2023 fue publicada una recopilación antológica de la obra del artista, compuesta por veinticinco cedés, como parte de la conmemoración de sus cincuenta años de oficio y 70 de vida, que culminó con un gran concierto en El Palau de la Música catalana y la edición de Joan Isaac al Palau en 2024. Azimut es su más reciente creación, una obra protagonizada por unos textos profundamente poéticos, vestidos fundamentalmente por voz y cuerdas.
El cantautor brasileño Chico Buarque ha viajado a La Habana invitado por Silvio Rodríguez, en una visita que combina un gesto de solidaridad con la grabación conjunta de Sueño con serpientes. El encuentro refuerza la relación entre dos figuras centrales de la canción latinoamericana.
